The Avocado Image Slider is an image slider plugin for WordPress which uses the jQuery Easing plugin. It comes with various options that allow you to choose different sources from which to get the images and multiple styling options so that you”ll never have to edit any files directly!

Choose between images sourced from:
- Custom fields from a particular category
- Custom fields from all categories
- Selected images from the plugins Custom Images section.

The Avocado Image Slider has the following optional features:
- Pagination (with custom icons if you wish)
- Next/previous buttons
- Choose between three different shadow types
- 7 different types of preloading icons (or use none)
- Padding & border settings
- Deployment via shortcode or function call.

Simplemente, serve guacamole.

Installation Steps:

  • 1. Upload the folder ‘wp-avocado-image-slider’ to the ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory.
  • 2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress admin dashboard
  • 3. Go to Settings –> WP Avocado Image Slider to customize the default slider using the inputs provided for all necessary settings.
  • 4. Deploy the shortcode or function call to pages or posts

The Shortcode:

[avocadoslider]

The Function Call:

<?php if (function_exists(‘avocado_slider’)) { avocado_slider(); }?>

The Most Frequently Asked Questions:

Q.) What is the difference between a function call or shortcode? (A: …for use in a template page, or anywhere if you are also using the Exec-PHP plugin. This is a conditional function call, so it degrades very nicely as PHP if/when the plugin has been deactivated or disabled in the activation settings. To use Exec PHP, you need to install and activate that plugin. You can get it here. The Shortcode: [avocadoslider] Copy and paste this into a page or post while in Visual editing mode. This is not conditional code, therefore, if/when the slider has been disabled or the plugin deactivated, the shortcode should be removed or it will show on the page as text. )

Q.) How do I do a version upgrade? (A: The simplest way is to visit the plugin page to check for and download the latest version, then go to your WP admin Dashboard for –> Plugins –> Add New, clicking the Upload link. Upload the latest version available as an archive.zip file from your desktop.)

Q.) Where are the Avocado Image Slider settings stored? (A: In the wp_options table. This is quite standard. NOTE: When Disabling the slider, all of the selected options for it remain as part of the WP options table. Uninstalling/deactivating the Avocado Image Slider plugin removes everything from the slider table as well as all related options.)

Q.) Is there a maximum number of sliders permitted? (A: One – This version of the Avocado Image Slider provides configuration for one slider only. You can deploy that single slider within your site in as many instances/places as you like. Two – There is a maximum of 10 slides for the single slider, as all that the written code will support.)

One last NOTE: Should you require/desire a plugin that allows for the creation of multiple sliders and individual custom settings, please check out the Avocado Pro Content Slider here.

Changelog:
